Feedback board, in depth
Boards make demand visible: anyone can see that “dark mode” has 200 votes. That visibility is also their governance burden — duplicate posts need merging, off-topic posts need moderation, and every unanswered popular request is a public question mark over the team.
Board health depends on scale. Above a threshold of engaged users, boards self-organize (people vote instead of reposting). Below it, the board becomes a sparse page the team feels obligated to decorate. Many small teams get the visibility benefit with less burden by publishing only a curated roadmap.
Putting it into practice
If you run a board, schedule moderation like any other operational task and merge duplicates aggressively — vote fragmentation is what makes boards lie. TellTide deliberately does not have an open board; its public surface is the curated roadmap, where every visible item is one the team already vetted.
