What is Upvote?

An upvote is a single user’s one-click endorsement of a feedback item or feature request — the atomic unit of demand measurement in feedback tools.

Upvote, in depth

The upvote’s power is its low cost: because clicking is nearly free, participation is broad, and counts accumulate meaning fast. It also creates an implicit subscription — a user who upvoted has declared interest, which makes them the natural audience for the eventual “shipped” notification.

Interpretation needs care. Ten upvotes from ten enterprise accounts and ten from one Discord raid look identical as a number. Curation (what is votable), deduplication (votes concentrate), and context (who is voting) are what turn raw counts into evidence.

Putting it into practice

Treat upvotes as demand ranking within your curated list, and always close the loop with voters when status changes — it is the cheapest retention touch in the product. On a TellTide roadmap, votes and comments accumulate on published items, and status updates surface the outcome to everyone who backed them.
